USO DO PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
O PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE é o verdadeiro presente. Descreve uma AÇÃO QUE ESTÁ ACONTECENDO AGORA.
Ex.:
The children are playing in the garden now.
(As crianças estão brincando no jardim agora.)
Look! It is beginning to rain.
(Olhe! Está começando a chover.)
O PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE é geralmente usado com:
a) Certos advérbios como:
NOW = agora
AT PRESENT
AT THIS MOMENT
b) Imperativos:
LOOK = olhe
LISTEN = ouça
etc.
VERBOS QUE, DE MODO GERAL, NÃO SÃO USADOS NO PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
a) Verbs of "PERCEPTION": see, hear, taste, smell, recognize etc.
Ex.:
I see something.
(Eu vejo algo.)
estou vendo = vejo
b) Verbs of "EMOTION": love, want, hate, like etc.
Ex.:
Danny loves Anne.
(Danny ama Anne.)
está amando = ama
c) Verbs of "THINKING": understand, know, remember, forget etc.
Ex.:
I undestand you better now.
(Eu entendo melhor agora.)
estou entendendo = entendo
d) Verbs of "POSSESSING": own (possuir), belong, owe (dever), have (posse) etc.
Ex.:
This car belongs to me now.
belongs = pertence
